Meet the Director

      Gary Frock is the director of the Round Rock Academy of Music, a band program offered at several private schools in the Austin area.  Mr. Frock brings to the program 21 years of public school music teaching experience as well as more than 5 years teaching with Hal McCarty, the program's original founder.  Mr. Frock has been teaching in his current capacity since August 2013. 

 

          Mr. Frock studied music at the University of Texas at Austin. During his time at UT, he performed as a member of the Longhorn Band, the UT Wind Ensemble, the UT Percussion Ensemble, the Ragtime Band and the Longhorn Dixieland Band.

 

          After graduating in 1986, he has taught students of many ages in Central Texas, including Marble Falls High School and Middle School, Elgin High School and Middle School, Deerpark Middle School and Hutto High School and Middle School. Under his direction, Marble Falls High School and Elgin High School achieved the 'Outstanding High School Drumline' award at Blinn Marching Festival. He has organized and run several aspects of solo and ensemble competitions during his teaching career.   Mr. Frock currently performs with the Community Christian Church Praise Team in Round Rock.  He formerly was a member of the Williamson County Symphony Orchestra, but now performs as a member of the percussion section in the Central Texas Music and Arts Orchestra.

 

          Mr. Frock’s hobbies include woodworking, camping, sailing and paddle craft. He also enjoys traveling with his wife, Heidi and three daughters, Lauren, Rachel and Katie.  He also enjoys visiting with my new grandson, Emet and my two new son's in law,  Joel and John.  Mr. Frock likes being outdoors, especially here in beautiful central Texas.
